Public Liability Insurance

Hi everyone,

Well I had public liability insurance for my doulaing business (let it lapse whilst I'm recovering from my back operation) but now I need to sort it for my cosmetics business particularly because I'm going to an exhibit in September that requires you to have it.

Please can anyone advise a good insurance company to go with? I need £1M PLI.

Many thanks in anticipation

Try AXA, I go through TSB, can't remember how, but they let you pay monthly no extra charge.
I've been with them for about 3 years & you need public liability insurance anyway if you are in business & selling.
AXA are one of the biggest insurers in the country.

Well I kinda did know that but I was putting it off, just another expense but guess I shouldn't have. Off to look AXA now, thanks very much Helen :D :D

I use the National Market Traders Fed as it's £76 and it includes £5 million personal cover and all of this.

Yes I know what you mean Rachel :(

Thanks for that Nikki, does it matter that you're not a market trader though?

Nope - it covers you for public events and shows!

I'm an FSB member I need to check out their insurance deals too, as I pay a sub to them for the membership I ought to make use of it really! xx

Well would you believe AXA wouldn't cover me cos there's three sides to the business (online, party plan and exhibits) and the fact we sell worldwide to the US and Canada :0

Thanks Nikki, I'm going to see about applying to the NMTF instead.

Unbelievable, yet they cover me!!!
Where's the sense in that?????
They also cover me for my therapies & thats harder to get insurance for!

Good luck Jude

Hi,

I use a company called Westminster Indemnity for my training, coaching and alternative therapies as they cover all these on the same policy and very competitively priced. Although I'm not sure about cosmetics. They are adding more professions etc so it may be worth contacting them.

Thanks Noelyne for the suggestion :D

I've actually decided to go with NMTF, thanks Nikki for the advice. At least I'll be covered for exhibitions etc. Do you think Party Plan comes under this too? Not sure and stupidly didn't think to ask. Oh well, I'm going in head first as usual ha ha
