For Women in Business - Web Mums

Ann Williams-Maughan

Google

I have been working on SEO since my site went live last August and have watched as I moved up from page 19 to page 2. How happy was I to finally think things were going in the right direction. How wrong was I, today I dropped to page 20. I just feel like I haved wasted the last 10 months. What I have I done wrong?

Ann - what are the search terms you are using on Google?

Jolly Phonics has dropped to page 24 now, although revision workbooks and Oxford Reading Flashcards are still on page 1/2. Jolly Phonics is the term I get most of my traffic from.

Ann, when I get back to normality next week, I'll have a look into it for you. At the moment - all my time is going on the Mall but I will be back to Web Mums full time from next Monday as I have lots of articles/blogs and new bits and bobs to add to WM's.

I imagine that the term Jolly Phonics is a little bit too generic. When you say you were on page 2 before, was it for a specific product? ie. Jolly Phonics Flash Cards? There are many reasons why this can happen and it is incredibly common and frustrating when it does.

Have you noticed a decrease in traffic since this happened? Also - do you know what search terms people are using to find your site?

I will go through it all in depth with you next week and have a good look at how we can get you back on the 1st page for some of your search terms.

Don't worry! It will all come good.

Thanks Nikki, that's so kind of you. Just let me know when you have time.
