
Maclaren are providing parents in the US with safety cover hinges to prevent further accidents and amputation of children's fingertips. They are NOT doing so in the UK. The same models are popular in the UK models and several incidents have been reported in the news since the US recall announcement was made.
In the UK, the Trading Standards Institute has said it has not received enough complaints. However, it is clear from several Mum's forums that there have been incidents but the parents did not report them with trading standards.
Is it possible that the 'stiff upper lip' and 'no fuss' british attitude to accidents is misguided. Surely if there is a way of making a product safe then it should be made available in the UK also.
