Helen's 25 Things
25 things about me!! Here goes, hope you find it interesting.
1. Originally born & raised in Blackpool,now living in Stoke on Trent. Still a Lancashire Lass at heart & always will be.
2. I met Russell (my husband) 1 week before my 17th birthday & we will celebrate our 22nd Wedding Anniversary in August 2009. We have 2 fabulous boys & my eldest 'baby' turns 18 at the beginning of March. Now i feel old!!!
3. I am an Aromatherapist & Indian Head Masseuse, best career move I ever made, still hoping to make money through it but I live in hope.
4. One of my 'acheivements' is learning to enjoy public speaking. Helps that I understand & enjoy the subject 'Aromatherapy for Alzheimer's' that I talk about.
5. Favourite holiday - South Carolina, USA, visiting my Dad & my stepmom Jackie, one of the lovliest, funniest & caring people i have had the pleasure to meet & also who got me hooked on Aromatherapy. The glorious weather helps too, often 78 degrees at Halloween.
6. I have never driven an automatic car. Hubby is planning on buying one later in the year (for him) & being a stubborn person, I WILL DRIVE IT & he will not be in the car with me, not if the marriage is to survive ;-)
7. I hate to be late for anything, especially when going on holiday, unfortunately I'm married to a man who is we'll leave with just enough time to get anywhere & then decides, we'll just detour 2 miles to fill up with fuel (like he couldnt have done it before, grrrr). Am I calm & reasonable at this point? NO NO NO! Sharp implements should not be anywhere near me at this time.
8.I have had my photograph in the local papers of the 2 places I have lived, the Blackpool Gazette & the Sentinel In Stoke on Trent.
9. I prefer red wine, find white wine refreshing, don't mind a glass of rose & quite partial to a Bacardi cocktail. Not all at the same time & always in moderation. Of course after 'hinting' that i like Tia Maria, have to add a dash to a mug of coffee on occasion too.
10. I hate spiders, Daddy Long Legs & Canadian Geese (the grey ones). The geese terrorised me as a child when I used to visit Stanley Park, to feed the ducks, the terror of being hunted by those vicious beasts has never left me.
11. I love to relax, soaking in a warm aromatic bath (homemade goodies or shop bought, i'm not fussy), lights down low, a couple of spa lights floating.
12. I've had a variety of jobs, a cook/waitress in an Italian restaurant, fish finger packer, car electric harness assembler, leaflet deliverer, courier & now own Scents-ible Solutions Aromatherapy.
13. I am a parent governor at my sons high school, previously a parent governor at his primary school, it helps being a nosey person but knowing when to be quiet too. Me quiet, yeah, thats a good one ;-0
14. I LOVE chocolate but would rather never taste it again if my only option was to eat a chocolate lime!!!
15. I've ridden on the Chattenooga Choo Choo, visited Dollywood and attended the Highland Games in Atlanta, USA, weird seeing all the Americans wearing kilts.
16. I find myself watching less TV as I get older, all of the CSI's are my favourite, followed by Law and Order and I have to have my fix of Loose Women at lunchtime, Coleen is my favourite loose lady, another Blackpuddlian.
17. Acheived part of a life's ambition on a visit to Seaworld, I fed & stroked a dolphin, now to swim with one.
18. I've only ever been drunk once, I was in my 30's & spent most of the night asleep with my head down the loo, never again!! Room has spun on a few occasions but at least it was only gentle.
19. I've met more 'Helen's' through Webmums in the last year, than I have met in my lifetime.
20. I'm not into politics but have an opinion on anything & everything.
21. I hate rollercoaster rides, turbulance when flying & anything that makes my stomach lurch.
22. I am lethal to any indoor plant, once positioned in my house they can be dead within days, all through tender loving care or neglect. I've even managed to kill more than 1 indestructable bamboo plant.
23. I would love to visit Hawaii, the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone Park, New Zealand, Australia & New York (to ride in a yellow cab, eat from a Deli & see the Statue of Liberty).
24. I love baking but have never been able to make an edible loaf of bread, even with a bread maker. Hubby has threatened to build an extension with any loaves I bake.
25. Once my hubby told me to put salt onto a huge weed in our front lawn to kill it. I duly did this & he was perplexed as to why a huge brown patch appeared around the area of the now dead weed. This was all revealed upon discussing said application of salt, he had told me to put on a pinch of salt, I misheard him & added an inch of salt ;-0

Helen - you do make me laugh! And I hope you enjoyed doing this - I thought it would be boring but it's been fun and great to read everyone else's too.
I have to say that I too have never seen so many Helens congregate in the one place. We went through a spate of Helens joining at one point and I thought someone was winding me up - lol! And thank your hubby for the top tip, next time I bake a loaf, I'll make a start on the extension that I've always wanted!

Thank you for your lovely comments Jude & Sabine, you are wonderful caring friends, who I wouldn't be without in my life. Hardly a day goes by that one you cant make me smile & that is a gift i am truly thankful for.

I never laughed so much as when reading your 25 things, Helen. A few things remind me of "you know who". Can't believe how similar our lives and we are....such a great blog, such a great person. Glad we are friends - mwah.
