1. Do learn to say "No" and do not take on extra-business activities with non child-friendly deadlines (finished just in time yesterday pm).
2. If you run a business, choose suppliers who are unlikely to go into administration, get taken over and move warehouse, especially if you have outstanding orders and waiting customers.
3. When travelling to London on the train (on the cheap), do make yourself aware of peak-times. This will ensure no nasty surprises such as "Pay £100 or get off the tra…

Sunshine does make such a difference to your outlook on life and I certainly enjoyed the lovely spring day we had in Yorkshire on Saturday. I actually got out in the garden and it's nice and tidy now. I've been so busy with the business that I didn't get out at all last year and my veggies didn't do too well either with the poor weather and my neglect. This year I am being realistic and not even planting any!
A few years back where I used to live we had a bird (Starling I think) that used to mi…

Annette is a therapist of natural healing, energetic and coaching. She's mother of 3 children. She cures allergy with the NAET method, a combination of knowledge derived from allopathic medicine, oriental medicine and acupuncture, chiropractic, kinesiology and nutrition.
I'm myself under this treatment and the results are being very good up to now, I just have to wait the end of spring and summer to be sure that all my allergies have been removed (I was allergic to almost everything that I can…

Just to let you know that Kit Arthur Henry was born on 4
th March at 11.30pm weighing 10lb7. I had been in and out of hospital four times in the previous three weeks, but in the end the labour was swift and went smoothly. Despite his size Kit only took 3 ½ hours to be born. Unfortunately this meant that no-one got around to giving me IV antibiotics that I needed for
Group B Strep, so Kit and I then sp…

Do you ever feel like grabbing the towel and slinging it so far in that you would never have to work on your business ever again?
You may be right at the beginning of establishing your online income or maybe you have an established business already, but either way it isn't uncommon to feel those feelings of utter helplessness and despair at times. The successful people are the ones who recognize those feelings and know how to deal with them! It's hard to imagine that they've had their 'wobble'…

I'm writing this quick blog post with my youngest daughter Maddie asleep on my lap. She's only two and she has been up half of the night with a high temperature and has been quite sick this morning.
I haven't had to call my boss to say that I can't come into work today and I am able to re-juggle my schedule to accommodate my daughter.
As all of my businesses are run online, I do have the luxury of dictating the hours that I work around the needs of my children and that is something that really…

If, like me, you run a business from home and have very young children, you probably find traditional networking groups impossible to attend. Either the membership and meeting costs are prohibitive or the meetings take place at breakfast, lunch or teatime - all the busiest times in any mums' day!
So, rather than pretend my children didn't exist I started an informal, supportive and most importantly child-friendly networking group with several like-minded work at home mums - and after 6 months M…

I have found some tips on laundry using green methods which quite interested me, all the cleaning and laundry products I buy are Ecover and I have been thinking for some while that I ought to think about making some of my own. I have been inspired by my daughter in law who is using cleaning products that she makes herself. My sons asthma has definitely improved since she stopped using toxic nasties. Anyway I digress as usual but I have found some tips which may be of interest to you and will sav…

PageRank is a number, between 1 and 10, that is assigned to each individual page of your website by Google. The higher the PR (PageRank) the more importance it has within Googles search. Google treats every single individual page as a mini site in its own right, it does not rank your site overall. That is why it is important for you to link to the individual pages of your site via pages that Google already crawls – or Google will never know those pages are there.
It’s impossible to know the…

Surprisingly most small businesses do not realise that when investing in a website you need to make sure you are getting value for money. Sure a £200 deal with your brother-in-laws best mate seems like a bargain at the time. Great, you are getting a web site at the fraction of the cost and soon you will be raking in the cash, right?
Sadly no, unless your brother-in-laws best mate is a
web designer in addition to underst…

Well, it's all going on, so much so that there is just too much to cover in the one blog post but lets see how we go.
So, how is 2009 going for you so far? Is it moving along as you planned it to or have you lost sight of that plan somewhere?
When you first started your business did you have specific goals in mind or did you just 'go for it' and hope for the best? If you did have specific goals, are you still reaching for them? Have you surpassed them and set yourself some new ones?
The probl…

Okay. So
Nikki tagged me. An explanation and rules for how tagging works can be found at the end of this post.
And now I have got time to list "my" 25 things as my other half has gone out with his friends :-).
So here goes:
1.I was born in Stuttgart, Germany 50 years ago. A true Swabian..
2.When I was 4 years old I hit my head on a concrete bollard which caused the skull to crack in that area - near the temple - and my…
