I used to be someone who thought that violence solves nothing and that most of the warzones in the world are unnecessary and assorted western countries have no right to send troops into less developed countries and we have no right to impose our democracy on anyone. So I had little sympathy or empathy for any of the armed forces stationed abroad beyond, “It must be hard being away from family for so long but you chose that life.” But thanks to

I have been trained over the years on being professional in the workplace and when dealing with customers, it is ingrained in me, with systems for things and proper ways to do things and this is how I have set out my business. I have tried to give off the impression of a reasonably sized credible business rather than a Mum in a bedroom, as I felt this may put people off and perhaps they would wonder if they would get their gift or not or if I might run off with their credit card details.
I have…

I have sitting on my desk an
Indigo Essences Sleep Easy candle in need of a home.
Would you like it?
Then place an order over £10 with
Ethics Trading and tell me you want it in the order comments space. I’ll pop the candle into the next order that meets those criteria. Simple as that.
Will it be you?

I ran across this free ebook yesterday on social networking and was very impressed by what I learned. The sections on Facebook and Twitter were by far the best.

I’ve used a few different shopping systems on
Ethics Trading, from the simplest paypal buttons through to the fully integrated cubecart. I like the full systems with all the bells and whistles on, but they tend to be a bit clunky for customers, especially at the part where you have to register and some even make you wait while your registration is verified before you can buy anything.
So, although the various straight out of the box, often…

Anyone else found squidoo yet? I discovered it as a networking, information based site about a year or so ago and I really didn’t like it. It was slow, not intuitive and the help pages were no help at all. So I abandoned my account and ignored it.
Until now.
This week I’ve revisited Squidoo and updated some of my pages on there – Squidoo calls them lenses. You can see them here:

That sounds very military doesn’t it? Well, that’s because it is. Whether you agree with what various Peacekeeping forces are doing around the world or not the fact remains that these men and women are risking their lives for something they believe in and doing a job that takes them away from their families and friends, and they are in combat situations where their lives are threatened every day. They see friends and team mates killed and they suffer trauma.
I don’t have any relatives or friend…

The advice to help protect us against swine flu and against all infections actually, is to cough/sneeze into a paper tissue and chuck it in the bin. Then
wash your hands as soon as you possibly can.
Now, I’d disagree with the paper tissue thing and I’d say use a reusable cloth hankie and then wash it hot with a few drops of…

Does your business profile you first or your product first?
People buy from people! You should not think that showcasing your business on a website changes the rules. If you want people to buy from you then you need to make sure that they see you. They need to see you as an expert and as a leader. These are the principals of "Attraction Marketing" it is where you are leading not selling. You need to give value and be of service every step of the way to create relationships and life long, referri…

Hi all,
Some of you have probably heard of Remote Employment from this site and they recently did an Awards competition in conjunction with BT for home workers and home businesses.
Being quite shy myself I wouldn't normally put myself forward for something like this, but I am learning that with business comes PR and you do have to grab every opportunity to promote yourself. However, as I have a very big space problem and desperately need to employ some help, but have no room to house them, I e…
