Welcome to my page...

Hello - my name is Nikki and I created this site Webmums!

I am a mum of three gorgeous girls, married to a man with more patience than a saint and currently residing in a house fit to burst at the seams in Sussex!
The site is for women of all walks of life and I hope that everyone can find their own little place here and really enjoy the WebMums community.

As a mum, I know how hard it is to earn a living and even make friends on occasion. So I developed WebMums as a space where mums can socialise but also have the chance to network, advertise their businesses for free on their profile pages and pick up ideas for working from home - if need be.

The site can be a little daunting at first - but I am working on a simple, site navigation map - which should make things a little easier. If you need help uploading pictures, navigating your way around the site, on how to use the forum etc - then please feel free to send me a message (click on send message underneath my profile pic) or leave a comment here on my page below. I will get back to you ASAP.

What Are You Hoping To Gain From Joining Web Mums?: Friends, business advice, business contacts (networking), marketing opportunities, knowledge

A Little About Me:: A little bit Dumpy,
More Boho than Frumpy,
A mummy to three,
& dunks biscuits in tea!

(Am trying to resist those biscuits nowadays!)

So, a quick summary;

I have a long history with retail both offline and on. I have opened a couple of web stores and in the offline world I was a retail manager for a well known clothing chain.

Since having children and bringing my business online I have been learning Web Design, eCommerce, SEO, Link Building, Blogging and Social Networking.

My main frustration is seeing great businesses fail - not through a lack of great product but through a lack of marketing knowledge, coupled with SEO and basic design.
The other main downfall I see is many people opening eCommerce stores having done no prior Market Research and ploughing hours of time and heaps of money into a business that was never ever going to succeed as there isn't a market!

My goal is to bring that knowledge to everyone, especially those in eCommerce as this is my main area of expertise and where I see the help is needed the most!

I am currently building a training site to cover all aspects of training for anyone who is thinking of starting their own business or needing a boost and a better understanding of the one they have.

A Little About My Business: I've opened 2 webstores (3 if you include eBay) and I've now set this site up for women. I'm also working on another two that will support this one. So I have a very strong E-Commerce background.

I'm also very knowledgable on SEO which basically means 'promoting your website through the search engines'.

My main interests lie in affiliate marketing and I will be introducing this as a course on Web Mums very soon. It's a good way to earn an excellent income from home.

I spend hours researching and writing articles for this site to bring together an assortment of info that may otherwise be difficult to find.
I know from experience how difficult it can be to find the right information regarding homeworking as not everything on the internet is 'at your fingertips'.
So, the concept of Web-Mums was born. There are other sites with lots of info for women but there is always room for more. You will find a list of all sites of interest in our resources area - which is being built at the moment.
In addition to supplying info - this is a great site for socializing and bringing women together from all walks of life.

What Do You Aim To Achieve In The Next 12 Months?: I will do my best to help promote women in business and make available all the necessary info they need!
I will move house - bigger and better than the one I am currently residing in. There's far too many of us in it now!
I shall concentrate on building up my businesses to make them really successful.
I will turn to my husband and tell him to resign from the job he hates so that he can start his own business, as I will have the money to support his dream!

Favourite Reads:: All the serial killer type books - Love the James Patterson series with Alex cross, Peter James, Val McDermid, Helen Black (one of our WebMums), Tess Gerritson, Nicci French, Michael Prescott, Jeffrey Deaver, Harlan Coben etc - and also like (though more buffy than real) Kelley Armstrongs Werewolf/Magick series.

Favourite Word or Quote:: I quite like the word 'Squishy' cos it sounds 'Squishy'

Also positive words like CAN, WILL, DO, ACHIEVE - these are words that are becoming more and more important in my life.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery but every day's a gift and that's why it's called the present.

This Really Made Me Laugh - and Some News!

Hi Folks - sorry I haven't been around so much recently. Had a bit of a personal thing going on that I won't bore you with, which then led on to a bit of a journey of discovery!
