Thanks Elaine. We have actually asked Business Link to sponsor us but everything has gone very 'quiet' since we asked ;-) Just biding my time until I can pitch the idea to Peter Jones & the other Dragons!!

That sounds fab - I'd love something like that... maybe we should petition Business Link... the government want us mums to be working after all!

That's the grand plan Nikki. I'm quite sure there are enough WAHMs nationally to support such a group - but like most things at the moment, it's all a question of funding (or lack of!).
February 24
I think that this is a wonderful idea Sam. I wish you the very best of luck with this and look forward to this turning into a nationwide event!

Hi Sam, that's great - the more the merrier. Feel free to open your own mini group on here for networking ladies in your area and also do make use of the 'events' facility if you wish to add any of your networking events and promote them on here.

Hello Sam,

Welcome to Web Mums – I’m so pleased you found us! I love the sound of Mums the Boss networking events. I was looking to start something along the lines of networking with Web Mums so perhaps we could JV with something in the future. There are
lots of new and exciting changes happening to the site over the coming weeks
and if you happen to have an online business, in particular, an online shop –
then we’re going to be introducing some top quality, step by step training that
will shoot your shop/business to its maximum potential.

Make sure that you’re signed up to the newsletter (on the home page) to be the first to know when it is released. If you would like to know a little more about it now or are interested in some Beta testing (all
free) then pop your name down in this
thread
in the forum.

Have a browse around the site – there’s lots to see and tons more being added all of the time! Feel free to invite any of your peers if you think they might benefit from being a member of Web Mums, there is an invite button at the top
of the page for your convenience.

To really make the most of your profile page, have a read of this article as it explains how you can leverage it to really make it work for
you.

If you need any help or have any questions, you can either leave a message on my page here on Web Mums or shoot me an email nikki(at)webmums(dot)com or you
can reach me through my Twitter Page.

Looking forward to catching up with you soon,

Nikki

What Are You Hoping To Gain From Joining Web Mums?
Friends, business advice, business contacts (networking), marketing opportunities, knowledge
A Little About Me:
I am a 39 year old WAHM with 2 young daughters aged 2 and 3. My background is in Marketing and I run 2 small businesses from my dining room table!
A Little About My Business
After having my first baby I looked around for work at home opportunities and bought into the My Little Wrapper franchise, producing personalised chocolate bars for birthdays, weddings and corporate gifts. Shortly afterwards I set up a local group for other local WAHMs, as I found it impossible to attend normal networking events with a baby and a toddler to look after. 6 months later Mum's The Boss was born - we meet monthly for informal networking and support, arrange informative and inspirational speakers and, most importantly, operate a creche so mums can bring babies and toddlers along to meetings.

What Do You Aim To Achieve In The Next 12 Months?
I would like to see the membership of Mums the Boss grow locally and for us to secure some funding or sponsorship to allow us to continue to operate the group at a minimal cost to our members
Favourite Reads:
I belong to a local Book Club and love the opportunity to read books I perhaps wouldn't have chosen myself. It has led me to discover some of my all-time favourites - the Five People You Meet In Heaven and The Death & LIfe of Charlie St Cloud. Am also very partial to a Jodi Picoult moral dilemma!
Favourite Word or Quote:
To thine own self be true

Top 10 Benefits of being a WAHM

When you’re having one of those days when the thought of sitting in an air-conditioned office in blissful solitude appeals rather more than sitting at your dining room table trying to work while your children are pinching each other and shrieking in the background, then take a moment to think about the following light-hearted advantages of being a work at home mum.

1. Lunch – never again will you have to endure a soggy sarnie or a limp salad. If you fancy a fishfinger sandwich or… Continue

Want to network with other WAHMs in Bedfordshire?

If, like me, you run a business from home and have very young children, you probably find traditional networking groups impossible to attend. Either the membership and meeting costs are prohibitive or the meetings take place at breakfast, lunch or teatime - all the busiest times in any mums' day!

So, rather than pretend my children didn't exist I started an informal, supportive and most importantly child-friendly networking group with several like-minded work at home mums - and after 6 months M… Continue
