A Little About Me:: I'm mum to D, 6 and J, 2. We live right on the coast, and I love writing, reading, and being out on the beach.

A Little About My Business: I write books and run a PR business. My latest book is Family Friendly Working (www.familyfriendlyworking.co.uk), for mums and dads who are looking for family friendly business ideas and info on flexible working rights. I have written a book for mumpreneurs about business promotion, A Guide to Promoting Your Business, which has a useful website full of free PR and business resources to accompany it, www.prbasics.co.uk.

Start and Run Your Own Business: Flexible Working Hours Can Help

If you have a job, but want to set up your own mumpreneur business, are you aware of your right to request flexible working? You have the right to ask to change the hours you work and your employer has to listen to your request. You could ask to start and finish work earlier, or work fewer hours, or do more hours at certain times of the year. The benefit to the employer is a less stressed employee.
