Web Mums WAHM Network

Web Mums can put your virtual business card at the forefront of peoples minds. It's a powerful site, regulalry indexed by Google and filled with hundreds of members with a vast amount of business knowledge that they are willing to share. Web Mums can offer advice, support, resources and much, much more. Ultimately Web Mums is a networking site which, if used correctly, can make a huge difference to your business.

The power of networking is underestimated and not understood my many people. Yes, we're told to join networking groups – which we do – but then what? Well, in the case of sites like Web Mums, I'm sorry to say that a profile page is often filled out only for us to never hear from that person again.

If you think for a moment that you will make business contacts, reach customers, filter into the search engines and promote your business from your profile page alone – then I'm afraid I have to tell you that it just doesn't work like that. Networking is all about having a presence so that you stick in the forefront of peoples minds and this is the concept that many businesses online are missing!

On Web Mums – your profile page is a powerful tool and I'm not sure that many people realise this. If you utilise your profile page, add links, keywords and change and add content regularly, you will start to drive traffic through it to your website. This is a massive confidence builder with your potential customers. They can get a feel for you before they even visit your site.

Unlike a lot of networking sites, Web Mums is open to search engines – this means that I have set it up specifically for the search engines to crawl it – picking up your links as it goes. So every blog that you write, every post that you make about your business is being indexed. Even more so if you utilise the links and tags option. So not only will your content be useful for networking and making business contacts, it is also vital Search Engine Optimisation for your website.

Now, if you don't have a website – why are you not using the benefits of your profile page & blog? You can add products and even a PayPal button for some items if you wish to do so. Do you have a blog? If so, are you making use of the RSS feeds and feeding it through to your profile page?

If you write a blog post on Web Mums – Google picks it up fairly quickly. Imagine adding a blog post about one of your products and adding a buy it now button at the end? I shall include an example at the end of this post.

So if you are considering joining Web Mums or another social or business network then only do so if you are going to use it for networking otherwise you will be completely wasting your time even filling out your profile.

If you are unsure about how to start off then write a few blog posts, add some comments in the forum and visit some other members pages. This will build a rapport and start you on your way. I'd say the same to existing members too, if new members join – go and introduce yourself on their profile page as not only does it make them feel welcome they will most likely be intrigued to see what you do and visit your profile page. There is nothing worse than walking into a room for the first time and no-one says hello to you! It's the same online when you join a community – it's nice when people stop by and say hello, it's good networking practice and just a welcoming way to get to know someone.

There have already been some successfully joint ventures and business arrangements on Web Mums and these were accomplished by members who have played an active part in the site. No one knows you are there if you never add any content and I dread to think how many opportunities/sales have already been lost.

So, my advice to you would be to make the most of this amazing opportunity. It doesn't cost you anything other than some time and it's time invested in your business. Even if you don't join Web Mums, this advice is for anyone that is already a member of a networking community or considering joining one – you get back what you put in.

So, where do you go from here then? Well, I would consider re-evaluating your profile page and perhaps have a play with that, then head to the forums and add some content there and perhaps add a blog post. Check out the video on adding RSS Feeds to your profile page if you are unsure about that – it's a little blurry in places but you should be able to follow it ok.

If you ever doubted the power of this site.....go and Google 'Fair Trade Moroccan Clay' - you will find that the top spot is Cebraonline. The second spot is from this blog post on Web Mums. This post was written by Sabine who owns Cebraonline and she knows the power of a blog and networking. Look at how she has used the tags at the end of her blog posts - that is what you should be doing. As you scroll down the Google page, you will see Sabines wordpress blog amongst others - so she has literally dominated the front page of Google with that search term! SEO & networking properly makes all the difference to your business. Sabine has also had a very successful Joint Venture on Web Mums where she has collaborated with Helen Hammond from Scents-ible Solutions to create her own branded skin care range. Helen is also working with numerous other women from Web Mums as she too grasps the power of networking. I do hope that this little insight to what Web Mums can do for you will encourage you to make the most of a wonderful opportunity.

If you haven't yet done so, sign up for the Business Directory. It's a front page link – which means that you get a link from a PR4 page which can make a massive difference to where you sit on the organic searches. It's £3.50 per month and the first month is free. You can use the PayPal button below to sign up directly now.

Wishing you every success as we learn, network and inspire each other along the way,

Nikki
