Web Mums WAHM Network

4th September 2009

So, the kids are finally back at school and I have finally replaced my laptop and got back online! I am in the throes of setting up webmums.com where you will have access to a wealth of new training and learning resources to aid your business.

Can't wait to unveil it - watch this space!

3rd March 2009

Thanks to everyone who attended the live chat yesterday, I hope you all found it beneficial. I'll be adding the transcript later on today (kindly provided by Di) and we have also decided to record an audio for you. This will cover what we discussed in slightly more detail.

The live chat is now a permanent feature on Web Mums and can only be accessed by members. I would suggest that you turn the sound on and keep it minimized so that you can 'hear' if someone is chatting in the chat room. To turn the sound on, just click on the volume icon at the bottom of your chat box.

2nd March 2009

Well spring has certainly sprung - the sun is out and so are the daisies - well they are definitely out here on Web Mums! The new spring background should put a smile on your face and encourage you to spring into action with your businesses.
Just a little update today, well, it's more of a reminder really - Don't forget the live chat we have scheduled for tonight. To use the chat facility, just look at the bottom of the page where you'll see a grey band running across the bottom of your screen. This band will be visible on every page of Web Mums. On the right side of the band you'll see two arrows and a figure. Just click on one of the arrows to pop out the chat box and away you go! Easy peezy! Hope to see you there tonight - 7pm, UK time!

24th February 2009

Today I have been looking after my poorly children, administering medicine and cuddles in between working whilst they slept. I'm grateful that I can do that and I don't have a 'boss' to answer to.
I'm hoping to add a few videos to the site this week, they'll be video tips for marketing and also a couple on how to best utilize the services at Web Mums.

22nd February 2009

I just wanted to let you all know that we're having a 'Live Chat' event on 2nd March 2009 at 7.30pm (UK time). The main focus of this session is to discuss ecommerce business, things to avoid things you should be implementing etc The chat will be held here at Web Mums via a live text box which will be prominently displayed on the home page at the specified time. Let us know of you can attend and what you would like to see being discussed. If you know of anyone else that might find this of interest - please let them know. This is a free event - so do come and join us. You don't even have to partake if you do not wish too, you may prefer to sit and observe.

If this proves successful, we'll be holding more of them in the future.

21st February 2009

I've just added a dropshipping eBook into the Freebie area, so grab your copy. I will be adding some more books and reports over the next week with some exclusive reports being added to the members only section too!

I'd also like to welcome Ann as part of the team - she will be moderating the forum and helping new members to find their way around the site. Ann has been a solid member of Web Mums almost since the beginning. She always makes time to help people when she can and is always on hand to say hello to people as they arrive - so a wonderful asset to the Web Mums team!

18th February 2009

Lots of news, so let's get started. As you know I am building up the main site WebMums.com which will eventually house a lot of the articles and info that we are currently carrying over here on our community site. You'll notice some things being moved around a little bit but it shouldn't be too scary and I will keep you all updated. Nothing will be changing within your member pages, forums, pics and videos so please don't worry about any links or info you have added - it's all staying here.

The idea is to keep WebMums.ning as the community area and the resources on a different site. This will make the navigation of the site far easier for you all and will open up some great new opportunites too....

You may also have heard about the eCommerce training site that we are currently constructing (have you had your say in the survey about it yet?). The main reason for this is because you asked me for it. So many women (and men) that pass through here are looking for excellent info that is tailored towards starting an online store or improving the one that they already have. Whilst there is a lot of info around on the Internet, it isn't normally in the one place and some of it can be off-putting, confusing or just wrong!

So, I have partnered with a couple of other ladies both of whom have a huge wealth of experience and between us we are creating an eCommerce training site. This site will walk you through the proceedures you need to take each month to get your store running to it's absolute maximum potential. We will be covering every single aspect in easy, step by step tutorials that you can implement within your own stores. We will also be giving you a monthly worksheet and checklist, an exclusive forum, a monthly Q&A session and a few other bits and bobs that we're in the process of confirming.

We will be asking some select members of Web Mums to Beta test the site for us for a few weeks and to give us their feedback and opinions on how user friendly it is and how we can imporove it - before we open the doors to all of you. If you are interested in Beta testing, then please fill out the survey and then register your interest on the thread in the ecommerce forum by the end of February. You can also email me and let me know nikki(at)webmums(dot)com. Please make sure that you have signed up to the newsletter on the home page as this will have announcements about the training course as and when it launches, with special offers to newsletter subscribers.

I'm also going to bring back the member interviews as I know you liked those - we'll be featuring some of these as a podcast. If you'd like to be interviewed and have your business featured, then let me know.

Right, that's it for now - swing by the forums and say hello when you get a chance, be good to hear from you.

27th September 2008

I haven't been around quite so much as I've had a kidney infection (wouldn't recommend it) I'm coming out the other side of it now, so will hopefully be back up to par soon.

Just also wanted to let you know that I am on holiday from Saturday 4th October - Monday 13th October so I will be unreachable within that time. Wayne is having the children whilst I have a break (he had his turn earlier in the year) - I can't wait!

19th September 2008

It's been a busy few weeks with lots of action behind the scenes here at Web Mums. There is so much great stuff coming soon - I can't wait to share it with you all!

I hope everyone has managed to get out and enjoy some of the British sunshine that made an appearance! Always the way - kids go back to school, sun comes out! I have to say that I haven't seen that much of it as I have been rather tied to the laptop working on the new sections for Web Mums plus I have my other businesses to look after but it will all be worth it.

I do sometimes wish I had twelve pairs of hands as that would make life so much easier! However, I've written a new time management section that will be added soon and that has some great tips and advice for organising your day and avoiding the dreaded procrastination.

The latest newsletter will be out within the next week, where I'll be announcing some of the new additions to Web Mums, plus some really cool competition prizes!

Finally - to all of the new members that have joined recently, please accept my apologies that I haven't yet been in touch - I will be contacting you all soon and welcoming you to Web Mums properly. If you head to the forums or write a blog post, you'll find that everyone is very friendly and will make you feel welcome.

12th September 2008

Hi All, well - it's late but I just wanted to let you know that I am around, even though I've been a little quiet this week. There is lots of great stuff churning over in the background and I shall be here with an update for you all on Monday.

Have a great weekend....

 3rd September 2008

Well, one of my children heads back to school tomorrow and the other on Friday, so I'm looking forward to some time to spend catching up with you all and getting back into a routine.

Latest newsletter will be going out later today - make sure you have subscribed to the newsletter or you'll miss out on extras that are hidden around the site. You might also like to grab a coffee and have a read through 101 Ways to market Your Business from Judy Cable. Some great tips in there.

29th August 2008

I just wanted to give you all the heads up about a few new sections going in place over the coming weeks. The Market Place has not been forgotten but as previously explained - I'm looking into the best ad manager for it as the last one was pulled and the current one isn't right. I will keep you all posted on that!

The new sections that we have coming to Web Mums are 'Getting Started' which will be aimed at women who are looking for ideas and inspriration to get them working from home. This will also feature step by step guides and articles that will be beneficial to everyone. Also I am introducing 'Affiliate Marketers' this is for anyone who wants to learn about Affiliate Marketing - this will be a members only section and details on how to sign up for that will be on site shortly! We will also have a section with 'Current Job Vacancies' - so if you are looking for staff for your business then this will be a great place for you! This is a section that I have been asked for on numerous occassions and whilst I am not a job site, I am aware that you would like to advertise your vacancies and women are coming through looking for employment, so it will be a fairly simple set up that should fill that gap!

28th August 2008

I'd like you all to say 'hello' to Kate Joyice, she joins us as a new admin today and will be assisting in the running of Web Mums on and off. She's got a vast amount of knowledge to aid small businesses and is particularly strong on finance matters!

27th August 2008

Well, the past couple of weeks have seen in some new changes on Web Mums and some rather frustrating set-backs! Firstly, let me address the set backs. A third party widget supplier has been given the boot by Ning, who are the platform suppliers to Web Mums.

Ning had their reasons for doing this - but the drawbacks are, that the company that has been removed supplied some of the funcionality of this site (and thousands of others). In addition to the instant messenger, we also had our ads supported by them and also the tabs. This has resulted in me having to quickly find a new 'temporary' ad manager and I'm looking into ways to re-do the tabs.

Unfortunately, lots of links have been broken across the site and this has/is taking a heck of a long time to repair, although I doubt you will notice any problems whilst this issue is being addressed.

The other side-effect of this is the Market Place that was due for release this week. The whole structure was reliant on this company but they've gone, along with money I invested in them and alot of our sites funcionality.

However - not one to throw in my chips - I am searching around for another suitable platform and I still hope to roll this Market Place out within the next couple of weeks. I will of course honour the free ad time that has been offered to some of you from the Mall from the day the Market goes live!

So - that was a bit of a stressful nightmare, but on a more positive note, I hope you've seen the new articles that have been added and our fantastic Womens Business Forum. Please go and join it and make it a truly amazing resource for business women everywhere. You will need to choose a username and password to access it. Feel free to use the same one that you use for the main Web Mums site or register a different one - it's entirely up to you!

The forum has been requested for a long time as the current forum on this site isn't very user friendly so please use it and don't let it gather dust! :-)

Finally, I just wanted to let you know that I had a rather impromptu long weekend.....off .......as it was my 10th wedding anniversary on Friday. Wonderful to have the break but I am trying to catch up with emails and requests that have been submitted since Thurs 21st. If you are waiting to hear from me then rest assured that your query is being dealt with.

10th August 2008

We have a couple of new things added to the site. There is a members only group where you can access free reports and guides for your business. Most of these will be in pdf format so you can peruse through them at your leisure with a cuppa!

We also have a new section with lots of 'How to' articles being added weekly. Keep an eye on this section for regular updates.

I am also introducing a 'product review' area where you can have your product/business reviewed with a link to your site. This will double up as a competition so if you would like to feature on the home page with a review and offer something as a competition prize then do get in touch. These articles will all be archived and be accessible even when the competitions have closed.

The MarketPlace will also be up and running by the end of the week, so keep an eye out for that too!

Please also note that the Instant Messenger and chat has moved to beneath the Sponsors on the right hand side of your page.

4th August 2008

Not much news to report today - the internet world has been rather quiet as we all try to cope with the summer holidays! I imagine that sales of Pinot Grigio have gone through the roof recently, I know that I wish I had shares in a vineyard...

Anyway - do pop over to Web Mums for a chat and let us know how you're doing!

The latest newsletter will be out within the week and I am currently working on some exciting projects which I will be revealing very soon.

Right - I'm off to the fridge to recover the Pinot.....

 2nd August 2008

You may have noticed a new chat facility that has appeared on the right hand side of the site. This enables you to do one of 2 things, you can either send an instant message to someone (which only they will see) or you can click on the pop up chat box for a lengthier conversation. This will be viewable by all members who are online and also click on the pop up chat.

I think that this facility will be invaluable if you have some business to discuss (or you just fancy a natter) - I may even use it for some live Q&A and training sessions if it works out well. I'm just testing it at the moment, so your feedback on any issues you may experience with it is essential.

You can effectively send someone an instant message and ask them to join you for a chat - great stuff!

Other news this week - I have decided to close the Mall. It's quite sad really as the traffic was really starting to flow, it had been ranked by Google and it was turning into a great portal. Unfortunatly, I hadn't considered that it would take up as much time as it did and it's time that I just don't have to spend on just that one aspect. It was a tough decision to make but 'thems the breaks'. It was a brilliant testing ground and it has given me a few fantastic and improved ideas for creating a portal that is inexpensive to users and great for creating traffic - and less time consuming for all involved......more on that soon. So thanks to everyone who was involved with the Mall, it's your enthusiasm to try new things that make all the difference.

22nd July 2008

I decided to give Web Mums a bit of a new look recently. I've gradually introduced fresh greens and played down some of the brighter colours, with the side panels now white. I doubt you've really noticed it as it has been a gradual process. I added the last touches today with a new header and also a drop down menu from the tabs to make navigation a little easier.

I hope you like the new look! It's by no means finished and there is some exciting new stuff heading to Web Mums very soon!!

I also just wanted to let you know about a great new video that has been made available today. It's been produced by Yaro Starak who is a well renowned blogger and entrepreneur. Yaro makes between £10k and £35k a MONTH from his blog and he's released a series of videos giving us regular bloggers and insight into how you too can monetise your blog.

So if you are looking to create a powerful income and give up the day job - or compliment it, then check out Yaro's video as it costs you nothing but a little bit of time!

17th June 2008

Note to self 'I must rememember to fill out the latest news on a regular basis'!

So, what's new with Web Mums then? Well, the latest newsletter went out this week, it was only a short one as it's a busy, busy time. The next one will be packed to the brim! If you haven't yet signed up for the newsletter, you can sign up for it here.

The Mall is nearly complete now. It's taken rather longer than I initially hoped, but I'm hoping to move on to the next stage of promotion at the end of this week.

There are some fantastic new developments that I'm dying to tell you about, but I've got to keep a lid on it for a little while longer yet.....rest assured, you'll be the first to know when it all comes about.

Right, I'd better get these last few products on to the Mall so that I can get back to making Web Mums a great resource for you of you fantastic women!

20th May 2008

Well, life is certainly interesting at times! Just when I thought it was safe to venture back to work - my husband is taken into hospital!! He'll be ok I'm sure but I obviously haven't been around as much as I liked. He got transferred to the hospital in the next town too, which is a pain in the arse as we have a great hospital on our doorstep - they just don't specialise in 'Wayne'.

Anyway - I'm hoping to have the poorly man back home with me today - where he can continue to shuffle about in his slippers for a few days, making those 'groaning noises' that really don't grate on me at all!!

In all seriousness - it hasn't been nice, but I've known all along that he'll be fine and it's another of lifes little tests that make us who we are........neurotic women on the edge!!

14th May 2008

Important info regarding link-backs for Web Mums Mall Subscribers in Subscribers group. Please go and check it out if you are part of the Mall.

14th May 2008

Back to work today! Hopefully have seen off the worst of the dodgy throat now! Gawd I've been so bored - but did as I was told this time and had a few days off to get over it properly. Managed to read a few books to keep my mind ticking over though! I will be wading through a back-log of emails over the next couple of days, so apologies if you've emailed me about something and haven't heard back yet. I am on a catch-up for the next couple of days - plus I need to get the Mall up and running now. So - if you need me - I am back!!

11th May 2008

New interview with Victoria Keating Owner of Cubs Kids Wear has been added. You can access the full interview here.

 11th May 2008

Apologies for not being around so much the last few days - I seem to of had a bit of a relapse with the dreaded 'Throat Virus' - I'm packed full of Vit C and Garlic now so I'm raring to go and safe from Vampires!

6th May 2008

I hope you are all thoroughly rested after the scorching Bank Holiday! I had a couple of days off and now my little girl is poorly (again!) so she has been a permanent fixture on my lap today! Managed to get some good links and SEO in for Web Mums Mall but still have many products to list over the next few days!

I'm hoping to get all of the products on by the end of the coming weekend - fingers X'd.

3rd May 2008

YAY! It's Bank Holiday weekend so that means some time off! Make sure you spend some time with friends and family to refresh those brains! Have a great weekend - see you next week!

3rd May 2008

The mall has now closed for any more subscribers. It may re-open for more businesses to be added in the future.

1st May 2008

We have a one day extension on our Mall subscription. It will be taken off for subscription after today so this really is your last chance to take advantage of the 2 free months and possibly even the Mall itself.

30th April 2008

Have you checked out the Web Mums Skin Cancer Campaign Idea? I'd love your feedback and ideas. It would be great to focus on a charity and help out a really worthy cause!

30th April 2008

Well, I'm sure by now you will have noticed the new Web Mums Mall. Many of you have decided to join and sell your products from there and I'm sure it will be a really great selling platform for you all. Today is the last day to sign up for the mall with the 2 Free Months Special Offer, so if you are still mulling it over - what do you have to lose?

30th April 2008

Many thanks to everyone that gave Web Mums a wonderful testimonial. These will be appearing more prominently on the site very soon. If anyone would like to add a testimonial to the site (with a link back to their website of course) then do forward them to me either via Web Mums or to nikki@webmums.com

30th April 2008

Many Congratulations to Sam for doing so well with her Police Call Handler training. It's great hearing about all of the updates - you're doing a brilliant job!

You will have noticed (hopefully) our new party planners database. This is an affordable way for party planners accross the UK to be able to advertise their businesses as it can be quite difficult. It also gives the customers a place to find you all in the one place so it makes it nice and easy to book.

To add your business to the database please go to the subscription page. After you have signed up please send the required info to me so that I can get your listing up and running. I can't chase everyone up for their listing details as it's just too time consuming. The details of what you need to send are at the bottom of the subscription page. Don't forget that in addition to this database - party planners will automatically qualify to be entered into another database that is currently being worked on - at no extra cost! This will be added exposure for pennies!

Don't forget to send me your interviews if you have filled one out. This is a great way to get exposure and link-backs to your business. Unfortunately, I can't fill them out for you - so don't forget to get them done as it's all part of your crucial online marketing plans. If you would like to be a part of the member focus - you can do that here.

The latest newsletter went out a few days ago and has received a great response. I've had lots of emails and comments thanking me for the piece on SEO part one so you'll be pleased to know that part two is in the pipeline. The newsletter is a great way to stay in touch as I know it's not easy to pop to the site each day to see what's new. At least I can keep you updated with the newsletter and hopefully you can pop over when something catches your eye. I will be sending out tips and articles with each newsletter. Over the course of the next few months - I'd like to replace the current version of the newsletter with a far better one as it's difficult to get all the info to you in the current format. I'd really appreciate it if you could take a minute to quickly sign up for the 'New Look' newsletter. This can be found at the top left of the home page.
