Genuine testimonials are the only way to go so are genuine best sellers. I want clients to return to my site because I offer a good service and the quality of my products match expectations. Give out good vibes and hopefully you will receive back in return great clients.

Hello,
I have had some reviews and I like to add them as I think that it is a good way of adding to the description when my imagination has run dry and also it bumps up the keywords - I hope.

we have had a few people leave ratings on products they liked etc, but people prefer to stay anonymous as a rule lol

I put testimonials and my recent Marie Claire accolade on my website and it really does make an impact. Pity is that with the current setting in my EKM shop, people can't enter their comments right underneath the product. Hence they email me and I include that in a special page...

@ Helen - Yes, yes, yes! Absolutely you should put genuine testimonials and best sellers on your site. You may be more cynical than the average joe public because you have an online store yourself and so have seen some underhand stuff going on (sorry if that's a wrong assumption!).

But I think you'll find that most people will believe them to be true. Fake testimonials are a big no-no, and I'm a firm believer that anyone who does put fake testimonials will get bitten on the bum at some point by karma. But genuine testimonials are great I think. Certainly can't do any harm :-)

Hi

I'd be interested to know people's view on the value of having testimonials on your ecommerce site and a Best Sellers list.

I have just added some genuine testimonials on my site, but personally I am very cynical about these on other sites and never quite believe if they are true and of course who is going to put the bad stuff (if any) on? Unless there are full details, so I could contact the person and do a bit of research I'm not sure if they have any real value?

I feel the same with Bestseller lists - are they bestsellers or are they the poor sellers being promoted? Also are people so sheep-like that they would buy something cos it's a bestseller and everyone else has got one?! (I'm the sort that would not buy something that everyone else has got).

I know it's hard to monitor, but has anyone found any benefit in having either of these on their sites or do we all do it because it's the 'norm'?

Oh me God - Nikki! I am speechless.... Mind you, I am having my EKM templates completely reworked with a fresh new design and I am dreading the day when it all goes "live" just to find out I have to redo all the products' descriptions.... eeekkk. Anyway, from what I gather there is an export and import csv facility on EKM and that should be able to do the job - or not?? Does anybody know? Has anybody tried it? I dare don't try it now as I am petrified of it all going pear shaped.

Hello - I have an EKM shop and whilst I know there is a forum available for discussion on it - I thought it would be nice if we can share our discussions here too with all e-commerce shop owners!

I have just done something very brave with my shop - I've asked EKM to delete ALL of the content as it was quicker than me sifting through it and deleting products from a supplier I no longer wish to use......*gulp*

I now have completely empty shelves and am trying not to focus on the hours I spent building it! It was the right decision and I'm sure it will be worth it....
