Well - my blog is broken (don't ask) so I am posting this here...
Having now been tagged numerous times on Facebook, I've finally decided to give this a go after being tagged by one of our own,
Victoria from Cubs Kids Wear. The idea is to write down 25 things about yourself and then pass it on/tag another 5 people. This has got huge on Facebook so you may have seen it but it's now spreading out into other social networks and the blogosphere. It's quite therapeutic once you get going. When I started, I thought I'd never make the 25 but I could have gone on...and on ......yawn.....and on.....
25 Things
1. I have 3 children - all girls, ranging in age from 2 - 12 years.
2. I used to be the Netball captain in the school team (good times).
3. My friends and family refer to me as their local library because of my vast book collection.
4. I broke my nose when I was 2yrs old when I fell of a mechanical ride by the checkouts in Co-Op. I actually have a hazy recollection of it too; I think it's probably one of my earliest memories.
5. I used to wear a brace and I would take it out to kiss my boyfriend. I often forgot to pop it back in and would later have to retrace my steps to find it again!
6. I used to love motorbikes but that feeling promptly went away when I had children. I turned into a worrywart but my husband still rides (against my protestations about the danger).
7. I used to smoke. I stopped during my pregnancies and vowed each time that I wouldn't go back to it after my baby was born - I finally accomplished that after my 3rd child and had my last cigarette 3yrs 3mnths ago!
8. I was born in London and lived there for the first 6yrs of my life. I have lots of family still living there and we have strong cockney and Italian roots.
9. I ended up marrying the 1st 'boy' I loved. I started seeing my now husband when I was 12 yrs old. We did briefly go our separate ways between the ages of 15 - 17 yrs but we got back together again and have been with each other ever since.
10. Having just written No 9, it has occurred to me that at my current age of 34, I have already been with my husband for half of my life - that's quite an eye opener!
11. My car has a secret, sneaky leak that we can't find so at the moment we have to leave early whenever we want to use the car to give it time to de-mist! It's a real pain that I really must get sorted. My first car was a blue Nissan Micra and I passed my test in it. When it came to selling it, I actually cried!
12. I've discovered my first few grey hairs. Growing old doesn't bother me at all, in fact I am relishing all that I'm yet to experience, however, I don't intend to grow old at all gracefully and I shall dye my hair as and when new grey ones appear. I'm actually considering returning to blonde hair which I have always been until fairly recently.
13. I'm a huge fan of rock music and spent a lot of my youth going to various rock festivals and concerts. Some of the bands I have seen (that you may have heard of) are Guns n Roses, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi plus many, many more. Although I do like some mainstream stuff (like Will Young - he totally goes against the rock religion) I am and always will be a rock chic at heart.
14. I hate Martial Arts films and my husband loves them! I watched one once - I think it was called Hero and that was OK, but on the whole 'fighting' couple with 'subtitles' does not float my boat.
15. My favourite holiday destination is Cyprus, so much so that we even considered moving there a while back. We've decided to stay put for now but we haven't ruled it out for the future.
16. I love red wine and white wine but rosé gives me a headache.
17. My favourite time of year is Christmas, especially Christmas day and Boxing Day when all of my family gets together. I also have a 1-2 week break over that period where I don't turn on the laptop (much) and I spend heaps of time relaxing with my family.
18. I have terrible hayfever which I've had since I was 6yrs old. I'm also allergic to potato peelings, bleach, dust, horses and cats. Plus a few others that we've yet to identify!
19. Since having children I cry at sad films, school plays and weddings. I could never understand, before I had kids, why people did this! And now I don't know why I do this - what I do know is that having children plays havoc with your hormones (and your bank balance)!
20. I'm a pretty good cook! I never really follow recipes, I tend to just find a bit of inspiration in them and then do my own thing. My specialities are pasta dishes, roast dinners with all the trimmings and fish dishes! I don't do much baking but when I do my cakes are pretty awesome too!
21. I used to work in the offline version of eCommerce right from checkout girl to top level company management. I had many, many different roles over a long period of time which is why I decided to bring that knowledge online after having children as it enabled me to stay at home with my children.
22. I was politely asked to leave Brownies when I was a child for letting off a fire extinguisher by accident (well, that's my story anyway). I remember white foam spraying across the room and lots of horrified faces!
23. I'm a bit of a geek! I find SEO and eCommerce really, really interesting and I am constantly learning, reading, testing and sharing new strategies. I find it fascinating how you can build anything online (within reason) and make it a success
if you know how and I find it equally frustrating when businesses fail when they could have been successful. I guess that's why one of my main interests is helping other women to achieve their goals - it helps me to achieve mine, which is a good catch 22 situation to be in!
24. Since giving up smoking I have put on quite a bit of weight so I am currently in the process of rectifying that. It's hard work but I've found that everything in my life that I have accomplished and been proud of was never an easy journey, so I know that when I slip back into my size 10 jeans again the hard work will have been all worthwhile.
25. I'd like to have another baby. I've given myself some goals to reach before I am 38 and if I achieve them then I'd like to have one more baby. I'll keep you posted on that one....
I'm going to tag a few more Web Mums to get you all involved:-
Sabine,
Allison,
Antonia,
Paula and
Helen - let's hear from you. You can either use your blog on Web Mums or your own personal blogs. Be sure to put the link below if you do so that we can all check out your '25 Things'
Here are the rules:
Once you’ve been tagged, you are supposed to write a post with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose five more people to be tagged. You also have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it’s because I want to know more about you. To do this, you simply link to their blogs so that they know you responded to their tag.
